Griffin Colapinto Wins the US OPEN of Surfing Pro Junior
The US Open of Surfing is the biggest surfing event in the nation, if not the entire world by a long shot. To be in this WSL event against the long list of international competitors is a huge feat in itself, but to win a division at this event in front of the tens of thousands surfing fans on the beach is one of the greatest accomplishments reached in surfing competition.
In the Pro Junior division DVS’s Seth Moniz reached the quarterfinals and our Griffin Colapinto went of to win the event. Both of the young standouts surfed insanely well with the best 21 and under surfers in the event. In the end, Griffin Colapinto crushed his way to the finals where he used his contest savvy and freakish talent to make the most of the challenging conditions to come away with the win. For Griffin, the win is the biggest of his career and at 17-years-old is an astounding feat in itself. Yyyewwww!
